The “Connection Station”*

Connection Stations are more than just installations—they’re invitations to transform the way we connect with ourselves and each other. They are spaces for deep connection, serving as anchor points in the heart of cities as places to see and be seen. Join us in bringing this vision to life!

*Note: This is a concept under development.

What?

Connection Stations are intimate, artful installations designed to create meaningful moments of connection in busy public spaces through eye-gazing. With two seats placed directly across from each other, these stations invite passersby to pause, sit down, and share a moment of presence with a stranger or a loved one.

Compact yet impactful, each station is a small oasis of stillness and mindfulness amidst the hustle and bustle of daily life. By encouraging eye-gazing—a simple practice of holding gentle eye contact—Connection Stations help us rediscover the power of being fully present with one another.

Why?

The intention is to create a context for visitors of public spaces in cities worldwide to share heartfelt moments with bypasses through eye-gazing. An invitation to pause and be in silence with another person, even if only for a minute, can significantly improve our well-being and reduce issues such as feelings of isolation and polarization.

In a society overly focused on technological advancements, productivity, and growth, intentional time to enjoy the simple art of human connection can be a great way of balancing things. Seeing each other without judgment and offering all our attention to the present experience is a refreshing way to meet in a mutual space beyond beliefs and opinions. After having shared silence and eye contact, the need is often not there to start a conversation. At other times, beautiful conversations and new friendships are kindled.
